When acetyl-CoA is abundant, the addition of any one of the citricacid cycle intermediates to a preparation carrying out the citric acid cyclecan result in a far more than stoichiometric manner, i.e., many more moles of CO2 areproduced than could be accounted for by simple oxidation of that intermediate. For example, if succinate were the intermediate added, for every mole of succinate added, many extra moles of CO2 are produced. Explain why this is so.
