Overview

You have been commissioned by XYZ Land Development Company to model a Double Storey Structural Building. Your client (XYZ Land Development Company) has provided you the details of the location of the proposed building.

The building is proposed to be built at 17 Pitoitoi Drive, Riverhead. The building footprint is to be decided by you, assuming the Auckland Council Guideline to be 60% impervious area and 40% pervious area when constructing a new building in a bare land.

Hint: Use Auckland Council Geomaps to find out the area of the bare land .

The deliverables to be produced for the clients are as below:
- 3x Isometric views
- 3x Plan views
- 4x Cross-sectional views
- 4x Component Details
- 1x Schedule of quantities

All the above deliverables are to be included within 8 sheets as detailed below:

Sheet 1- Three isometric views
A custom scale is to be used to fit three views in one A1 Metric sheet. The three views should provide three different perspectives of the structural building highlighting any key structural elements of the building.

Sheet 2- General Arrangement showing ground floor, first floor and roof plan. Scale 1:100
Please include text and dimensions as necessary

Sheet 3- Section 1 without annex. Scale 1:40
Call up all structural member sizes and provide dimensions. Call-outs for the details can be done on these sections

Sheet 4- Section 2 including annex. Scale 1:40
Call up all structural member sizes and provide dimensions. Call-outs for the details can be done on these sections

Sheet 5- Section 3 including foyer. Scale 1:40
Call up all structural member sizes and provide dimensions. Call-outs for the details can be done on these sections

Sheet 6- Section 4 including external staircase. Scale 1:40
Call up all structural member sizes and provide dimensions. Call-outs for the details can be done on these sections

Sheet 7- Four Details. Scale 1:10
Add all the information to completely describe the item being detailed
• Slab edge thickening- add reinforcing (modelled)- you may decide on the sizing.
• Purlin cleat- Use the 4-hole PCleat- fully dimension all items. Need 2 views (Side & Plan/Top view)
• Base Plate- all dimensions to be provided. Need 2 views (Side & Plan/Top view)
• The column/rafter joint used in the mezzanine- detail a 2 bolt connection
plate

Sheet 8- Schedule of Quantities
Have a look at all the options available and include only the applicable items (e.g. columns, foundations, framing etc)

Guides and hints
Following are some guidelines to assist you in completing the model. These are guidelines only and you may use any other suitable methodology to complete the model.
Start from Level 1

- Set out the grids
- Draw the floor slab and slab thickening
- Place the required columns on the grid
- Place the three section marks On section 1
- Establish all levels
- Complete the mezzanine framing
- Make the mezzanine frame into a group and copy it across the slab

On section 2
- Complete the annex framing

On section 3
- Complete the foyer framing Go to Level 2
- Place the second floor
- Place columns for second floor and use any of the sections created to complete the main portal framing for second floor
- Place the purlins and purlin cleats for foyer and annex

Go to Level 3
- Place the purlins and purlin cleats for mainframe This will complete all the main framing elements

The staircase is to be created in level 2. Additional guidelines will be provided to complete this part. Please complete the main framing elements before attempting to add the staircase or the walls.

Once the model is completed, go to different views, sections and callouts and add appropriate text and dimensions. Finally create the schedule of quantities.

Creating the stairs

1. Use the ‘Stair' icon under the Architecture tab to draw the stairs

2. Modifications to the stairs can be made via selecting the stairs ‘Edit stairs' under the Modify tab (same as editing a foundation)

3. Once the changes to the staircase has been made, click the green tick to exit out of the editing mode.

4. Use the Railing command under Architecture tab to add the balcony around the entrance to the ground floor. The railing should always be added in a continuous manner to avoid errors.

5. Modifications to the railings can be made the same way as modifying a staircase and the green tick can be used to exit out of the editing mode.

6. If the stairs and railings cannot be seen in the 3D view, check the Visibility/Graphics Overrides setting under the properties tab. Stairs and Railings should be ticked on.
