1. Develop a list of the key jobs for which your business will hire during the first three years of operations. Develop a brief job description for each. This includes jobs during the startup phase and during the first three years of operations. For each job description, outline the minimum and desirable qualifications. Consider credentials, certifications and or licenses, education and experience. Outline the costs of credentials and hires.

2. Develop a brief Human Resource Strategy; include processes and guidelines for recruiting, selecting, hiring, training and retaining employees. Discuss a three-year timeframe for the hiring of employees. How much will the business be spending on employees per quarter and yearly.

3. Define your decision-making strategies. Discuss your communication processes and how decisions will be made. Are you involving employees in this process, explain. Briefly discuss the roles, duties and responsibilities of owners.

4. Develop an Organizational Chart depicting two main points. First, show chain of command, and second, illustrate all the key functions within your business such as, general manager, marketing, operations, human resources, finance, et al. Develop charts for years one two and three if different.

5. Decide what type of legal entity you will create for your business. For example, Sole Proprietorship, Limited Liability Company (LLC). Discuss a timeline for the incorporation. Remember, during the process of obtaining a business license or legal entity, you may need to obtain certain permits, credentials, licenses or other qualification from other government or industry agencies. This means that you may need to be engage in working with a variety of agencies concurrently. Plan accordingly. Keep track of all costs.
