MN506 Network/Server performance monitoring tools - Melbourne Institute of Technology

Learning Outcome 1: Analyse and compare various server management systems;
Learning Outcome 2: Compare emerging tools and techniques for system management

Problem 1: apt vs apt-get
Traditionally, apt-get has been used to update, upgrade and install (as well as other software package management operations). You may see many instructions referring to apt-get. However, in the past couple of years the simpler apt is becoming popular. Your manager at work asked to identify and explain the technical differences between apt and apt-get commands of Linux to the IT department.

Problem 2: (nano, vim and Emacs) text editors
In Unix and Linux systems, the configuration of the operating system, servers, applications and preferences is commonly stored in plain text files. You want to view the hardware attached to the system? View a text file. You want to set the colour scheme for your terminal? Edit a text file. Your manager at work asked you to explain why text editors and files are important?

Assignment 1 - Part B
