Brief for Queen St project
The third busiest railway station in Scotland, Glasgow Queen Street, is being expanded to form a larger facility with superior services for growing passenger numbers. Announced in 2014, the station redevelopment will be part of the £742m Edinburgh - Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP). The station currently handles approximately 20 million passengers a year, and this is estimated to grow to 28 million by 2030. Immediately on receipt of contract award, the project team will commence the activities required to mobilise the project. These include:
• Completion of the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) and PMP
• Environmental Management Plan with Site Waste Management Plan
• CDP Design Management Plan
• Construction Programme, methodologies, phasing plans and Traffic Management Plans.
• Supply Chain procurement
• Liaison with Public Utilities to agree a programme for their works
• Consultation with project stakeholders.
• Local community engagement
• Establishment of the Project office and welfare facilities
At the point of site establishment by the contractor this will constitute the beginning of the planning envelope and as previously outlined, encapsulates elements 1-5.

TASK TWO: SOFTWARE PROJECT PLANAND SUMMARY
The Queen Street Redevelopment Project will take approximately 3 years (36 months)to demolish existing buildings and to complete the new build requirements. Your project director has tasked you with creating a new project plan usingAstaPowerproject because he has concerns with the existing plan.
You are to create a project plan demonstrating good logic and relevant functionalities of the software. Before you complete the Queen StreetProject plan, you should work through the in class tutorial. In order to create the Gantt Chart you will need to consider:
• The tasks involved in the project (maximum of 40)
• The durations for each task
• The logic and linking of the programme (start to start; finish to finish; start to fining; or finish to start). Further research on the topic should also help with this element.
• Show the critical path on your programme
Once you have completed your project plan, you should write a 500-word report supporting your software output. This should include justification of the "logic" used, a discussion on the key dependences of some of the main activities, as well as any other observations which you feel explains your approach.
