Mission or Vision

The first step for developing operating mechanisms is to establish a mission or vision for the organization. The mission or vision gives the organization direction, momentum, and commitment. It lends meaning and identity to the organization and guides the organization.
What is the mission of your organization? What is the mission of your department or team? How does the mission of your department or team align with the mission of the organization? How do the organization's policies and functional procedures support the accomplishment of the mission of the organization and that of your department or team? What changes are required to make your department or team more effective?
