Your instructor will assign you to a team whose mission is to develop a quality improvement plan. The first step in developing your plan is to choose a quote that embodies the characteristics of your team.

Working independently, choose three teamwork quotes that you feel embody most of the characteristics of a work team as defined in Table 1-1. These include developing a shared team goal, sharing responsibility for achieving the goal, having a defined membership, having authority for taking action to achieve the goal, being interdependent and accountable to the larger organization, and not developing sub-groups that operate without accountability to the whole team. You may also use a quote not on this list. Write your rationale for your choices (4 paragraphs) in an MS Word document and submit it according to your professor’s instructions.

Share your quotes with the other members of your team. Discuss the quotes and clarify the rationale behind their selection. Vote on the most compelling quote that will guide the way you work on your team project. Repeat the voting process until a winning quote emerges. This quote will become part of your final project.
