Analysis 1.1 Missing Project Management Plan Component
1. You are the project manager of a project that has already been initiated and has been in progress for two months. The project plan was completed several weeks prior to its actual initiation. The customer recently met with the sponsor regarding some new requirements.
During the weekly status meeting, the sponsor communicates to you that the new requirements are critical to the success of your company and should be immediately added to the project. You become concerned that the project cost and schedule will get out of hand due to the new requirements.
Based on the scenario, answer the following questions:
Should you add the new requirements from the sponsor to the plan? Explain why or why not.
What component of the project plan will help you determine how to manage this request for new requirements? Explain how this component is used to manage project changes.
Explain the steps that you would take to manage the situation to ensure that the project is on track.
