On November 5, 2016, the Royal Caribbean International's Harmony of the Seas set out on her maiden voyage with itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. At 226,963 gross tonnes, 1188 feet long and capacity of up to 6,780 guests; this ship is the largest cruise ship in the world at this time (Satchell, 2016, November 8). The ship boasts a waterpark, 10-foot water slide, rock climbing walls, zipline, ice-skating rink, full-size basketball court among other amenities and activities (Royal Caribbean International, n.d.). In order to cater to these mega-liners, many Caribbean countries are expanding their infrastructure, tourist facilities and tourist activities.

What are two recommendations which tourist destinations can implement to maximise the positive and minimize the negative economic impacts of cruise ships such as the Harmony of the Seas.
