Mini-Case Study: Fashion Design House

I work at the headquarters of a large fashion design house which manufactures and markets designer clothing to high end department stores on a global scale. I'm a member of a small executive management team that oversees a division of over 500 people.

Decisions with regard to company direction are made at executive level and executed by a team of directors. Executive and directors maintain offices on the top two floors of the company's head office.

I do not know many of the employees who work at the company other than my peers.

If my department were to experience failure, I would choose to resign rather than continue my employment at the company.

Recently, we have been losing market share to a newer design house. We have been discussing strategies to address this issue. The company's CEO rejected the idea of entering the big box store market with lower end clothing lines as he felt that the company would risk losing its air of prestige.

The company sponsors several large parties annually for employees to show its appreciation for their hard work. Employees, even at the lowest end of the spectrum, are well paid. The company also contributes large amounts of money to a variety of charities annually.
