Microbiology Digestive System Case Study:

Hannah loves cookie dough. She would eat it for every meal if she could. her mother warns her that she should not eat raw cookie dough, but she still does. One morning after a cookie dough binge, Hannah wakes up vomits. She has severe abdominal cramping and diarrhea. All she can think of is the cookie dough she had the day before.

  1. What is the diagnosis of the individual? What is the infectious agent? Does it have a common name?
  2. Why does she have this disorder? Where else could she have got it from?
  3. What is the typical treatment for this disease?

Carl wakes up one morning to swollen glands in his neck. He has a fever of 102 F and has pain when swallowing. He is absolutely miserable and barely wants to lift his head from his pillow. He goes to a minue clinic to see a physician since he feels so horrible.
