3. Critical analysis of chief formal and informal institutions (Export/Import regulation, FDI regulations, Industry specific regulations, product/service specific regulations, Economic and Political risk, cultural impact on GB, and Cognitive pillar)
4. Critical analysis industry structure, industry competition and strategic groups,
5. Use of resource-based approach and value chain analysis (use VRIO and value chain analysis models).
6. Recognition and use of ethics, CSR and sustainability principles in global strategic decision making.
7. Informed global strategic decision making/recommendations & conclusion.
Detailed Information This assignment covers the foundation topics of global strategy (Week 1- 4) For the purposes of analysis, select a country other than your home country, focus on an industry and an international business firm which operates in/from the selected country. This means you will be investigating and reporting on a selected global business context, an industry or a strategic group and a firm that engages in global business.
Examples could be:
• The restaurant industry in Australia. However, this industry is very large so the analysis could be conducted on a global business firm within the Australian restaurant industry (for example, KFC, McDonald etc. in the fast food restaurants in industry in Australia)
• A firm in the motorbike industry in Thailand.
You will need to have your industry and country selected and the lecturer informed by the end of Week 2. Please start discussing and researching options as early as in Week 1 so that you can manage your assignment and time effectively. An information search guide (for MGNT984) prepared by the Sydney campus librarian will also be available on the subject Moodle site. You may contact the librarian for any further clarification and support in that regard. You can contact also your lecturer at workshops, via email or audio- visual meetings for any further clarification or help regarding this assessment task. In Week 5, you will submit your report with your findings to Moodle - Turnitin.
