Instruction - Working in your groups, discuss the document and prepare a written paper that outlines the importance of the History of Management by including the answers to the following questions:

1. Explain why studying management history is important.

2. Describe the most important contributions made by classical theorists.

3. Why were the Hawthorn Studies so critical to management history?

4. Explain what the quantitative approach has contributed to the field of management.

5. How do systems theory and the contingency approach make managers better at what they do?

6. How do societal trends influence the practice of management? What are the implications for someone studying management?
