Assignment : Metrics and Analytics
What the assignment is about
You work in Human Resources as an analyst. You are happy. You even like Brussel sprouts.
Your company needs help understanding their hiring practices. Someone said something to some else about pay, and this made someone ask whether there is a problem. Following this revelation, you have been asked to a meeting. After coffee, and talk of the quarantine, you realize their concern is over employee salaries. And that they have six questions that need detailed answers.
1. Do we have a problem with male vs. female salaries? Show and explain your work. Use charts if it helps you explain your findings.
2. Is there a correlation between an employee's age and how much they get paid? Show and explain your findings in a text box in Excel. Also calculate R2 and explain its relationship.
3. Is there a correlation between an employee's sex and how much they make? Show and explain your findings in a text box in Excel. Also calculate R2 and explain its relationship. Discuss your findings as compared to Q2.
4. Do we have positions that are male or female dominated? Where/how does this impact our company? What can we do about it? How do you think this happened? A pivot chart will best display the data for this, plus a textbox briefly answering these questions.
5. How do our top 3 different positions by salary compare to the national averages in Canada? If they are higher than average or lower than average, what do you recommend, and what consequences may develop from your recommendation? Show and explain your findings in a text box in Excel.
6. What metrics and analytics do you think we should begin to track related to employee salaries? In other words, we have seen the results of the correlations on two columns of data. Is there any data missing? What other columns of data would help us to deeper analyze the relationship between our employees? Explain your ideas in a text box in Excel.
