In each stratum, nurses will be randomly selected so that they are evenly represented across all strata. Qualitative interviews with a group of nurses to learn more about their experience and how nurse-to-patient ratios affect stress.

A sampling plan involves recruiting a representative group of nurses at hospitals across California to document differences in nurse-to-patient ratios and cross-sections. The only qualified applicants will be registered nurses (RNs) and assistants engaged.
