Q1) Though there is popular belief that herbal remedies like Ginkgo biloba and Ginseng may improve learning and memory in healthy adults, these effects are generally not supported by well-controlled research (Peressson, Bringlov, Nilsson, & Nyberg, 2004). In typical study, researcher obtains sample of n=36 participants and has each person take herbal supplements everyday for 90 days. At end of 90 days, each person takes standardized memory test. For general population, scores from test are normally distributed with mean μ = 80 and a standard deviation of σ = 18. Sample of research participants had average of M = 84.
