As a tech-savvy intern, you know that it’s easy to copy text and images from PDF documents with a feature called Snapshot Tool. Your boss, Esther Garcia, has so much confidence in you that she asks you to draft a memo detailing the steps for copying images and text passages from portable document format (PDF) files.

You start by viewing the Edit pull-down menu in an open PDF document. Depending on the Adobe Acrobat or Reader version, a feature called Take a Snapshot emerges. This feature is represented by a camera icon. To copy content, you need to select the part of the PDF document that you want to capture by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the mouse across the document. The cursor will change its shape once the feature is activated. You can expand and reduce the selected area. This highlighted area will be copied to a clipboard. When you click the right mouse button, a menu appears that allows you to select Paste Options. You click the desired option once you have chosen a location where you want to insert the copied passage or image. The image that you copied to the clipboard can be pasted into a blank Microsoft Office document, whether Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. You can also take a picture of an entire page.
