Isabel (a citizen of Peru who is in the U.S. on a B1 visa) and her husband, William (a US citizen), have lived continously in Alexandia VA since she moved to the US on October 15, 2016. In August 2017, she separated from him and moved into her own apartment. For 2017, Isabel is a US resident because (1) her husband is a US citizen (2) She intends to live in Alexandria for the next 183 days (3) She applied for a green card (4) She lived in the US for more than 183 days in 2017 and meets the substantial presence test.
