Question

Sam Smith is a 74 year old male who presents to the family medical clinic with a generalized cough and congestion. Sam is informed that his regular provider is booked and unable to see him today but is offered to be seen by another provider in the clinic. Sam is agreeable and signs in to be seen. After the nurse is done obtaining the vitals, the provider comes is wearing a Hijab. The patient asks the nurse practitioner why she was wearing a towel over their head and asks her to remove it, the provider explains that she will not remove it and attempts to continue addressing the chief complaint. Sam continues to make inappropriate comments throughout the assessment and finally asks for another provider because he "doesn't want a terrorist as their doctor". The nurse practitioner terminates the visit, and the patient is assigned another provider.
