Assessment requirements:
Building on from your report in Assessment 2, you are required to submit a mini thesis. This should complete the mid-term report by adding sections on workings, implementation, and simulation results for the Quadcopter control problem.
You can suppose that a human operator will be operating the Quadcopter by providing the set points for the roll rate, pitch rate, yaw rate and Thrust in the z-axis of the body frame. Therefore, there is no need to deal with the positioning of the Quadcopter in the inertial frame.
This submission should include the following:
• Introduction (from assignment 2)
• Modeling (from assignment 2)
• Literature review (from assignment 2)
• Hardware (from assignment 2)
• Implementation: Simplified state-space and transfer matrix models, block diagrams, multi- loop implementation, MIMO implementation.
• Simulation results
• MPC and LQR: a discussion about how MPC and LQR could have been used in this context. No implementation is needed here.
• SPC: a short discussion on how one might use Statistical Process Control to predict potential issues with the Quadcopter.
• Discussion and conclusions
Notes:
• A minimum 6-8 supporting references and correct use of in-text citation. Citation and referencing format should conform to the EIT Marking Guidelines. Please see details of the use of IEEE citation within Moodle
• Research readings, articles, software help files, or other sources for guidance and information on this topic.
Thesis structure:
You may wish to structure your mini thesis in your own way, however, once again, you are required to demonstrate core competencies in communication and presentation skills through analytical and in-depth research.
