A retail pharmacy, like any other business, can be bought and sold by other pharmacy owners. The valuation of a pharmacy business is almost exclusively dependent upon financial indicators such as Sales/Turnover or Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA). As mentioned previously, the potential/addressable Sales/Turnover for any pharmacy is driven mostly by the location of the pharmacy and the demographics in the PTA.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has conducted market research that indicates that pharmacists are one of the most trusted professionals and provide a valuable service to the community, of which convenience is a distinguishing feature. A pharmacy owner can control how well a pharmacy is run to retain its customers, but has significantly less control over the number of customers it can attract because it is restricted to the demographics within the pharmacy's PTA. Yet, there is very little research or support provided to pharmacy owners in selecting the best location to either establish a pharmacy or buy over an existing pharmacy.
You are a Business Analyst and your challenge is to:
1. Create a method of assessing potential locations for a retail pharmacy,
2. Analyse the dataset provided as part of your method,
3. Add & analyse any additional data required to complete your method,
4. Present the method and approach by using Powerpoint, Excel, and/or PowerBI, and
5. In your presentation, highlight the top 10 potential locations for a retail pharmacy based on your method.
