Your task
Individually, you are required to record a 7-minute self-reflective video in which you will undertake a critical analysis of your current strengths and weaknesses as a leader based on the below tasks.
Assessment Description
The purpose of this individual assessment is to foster students' ability to analyse and select the most appropriate contemporary leadership practices for the tourism and hospitality industries by in part demonstrating skills in critical leadership, problem-solving and reflective learning relating to the tourism and hospitality industry.
Assessment Instructions
During week 3, you are required to undertake the leadership compass self-assessment with the use of a working sheet and its instructions that is located under the assessments tab via MyKBS. The self-assessment will allow you to determine your preferred approaches to work/working styles.
Based on the self-assessment result, you are then required to critically evaluate your leadership style by:
• providing a concise overview of the leadership compass self-assessment result.
• critically analysing the key strengths and weaknesses of your leadership style by drawing on the critical areas of improvement that you will need to achieve in a leadership role upon your graduation.
• developing a personal strategy that you will use in leading a diverse and dynamic tourism and hospitality workforce by drawing on short and long-term goals.
The findings presented in this self-reflective video must be accompanied with PowerPoint slides and be based on a minimum of 10 scholarly and peer-reviewed sources of information that were published no longer than 5 years ago and relevant to the field of tourism and hospitality leadership. These sources must be presented in the video in the form of in-text citations and a reference list adhering with Kaplan Harvard Referencing Style. Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
