Assessment - Project Performance
Your task
Evaluate project performance in the initiation, planning and execution stages, utilising project management software.
Assessment Description
In this individual assessment, students will be given an opportunity to evaluate project management software for overall project performance and compliance with quality standards.
Assessment Instructions
• Evaluate 5 current project management software options and explain the benefits and shortcomings of each.
• Explain how the software addresses the requirements of the 3 stages of a project plan, as stated in the brief above.
• Use screenshots of the software examples you have chosen to assist in explaining your opinions.
• Prepare slides as if presenting, although you will only be handing in a presentation. Place your full set of notes in the ‘notes' areas relevant to your slide headings. 2,000 words.
• There will be additional information which gives a fuller description of the assessment requirements along with KBS presentation guidelines.
You are required to use at least 12 sources of information and reference these in accordance with Kaplan Harvard Referencing Style.
1. You are not required to purchase any software.
2. You must run the software to analyse it, do not rely on product reviews.
3. Free software is available or you can register for trial periods to make your assessments.
4. You will need to create a simple project scenario in which to test the different software. Test the same scenario with different software programs in order to be able to make comparisons.
5. Take at least one screenshot from each software program. Explain what is happening in the shot and why you chose that particular screen shot to demonstrate features.
6. Be specific and not generic.
7. Demonstrate your own personal analysis about why you did/didn't like certain features.
8. Hand in early in case of technical glitches.
9. It is your responsibility to ensure that you correctly understand what is required by your lecturer.
10.Only one Powerpoint document is to be uploaded
Use of Powerpoint:
a. You are going to prepare a presentation but it will be a Turnitin submission.
b. Do not convert to a pdf.
c. Use the notes section of each slide to add relevant text and referencing.
d. Do not cram too much text on the slide itself.
e. There is a 2,000 word limit
f. Slides should be interesting
