A timber beam 6 in. wide by 12 in. deep is loaded and supported as shown below. The modulus of  elasticity of the timber is 1200 ksi. A pointer is attached to the right end of the beam. Determine the deflection of the right end of the pointer and the maximum deflection of the beam.
