Background. You are the marketing team for a slow fashion apparel company selling casual apparel to college-aged women 18-24. The line includes tops, shirts, dresses and pants retailing from $50-$100, compared to ‘fast fashion’ price ranges of $10-$50. The company views its target market as single, college-educated, and socially active women with disposable annual incomes of $5,000-$10,000. They have had lots of experience in purchasing fast fashion during their teens and in college, so these consumers have shopped at stores like Forever 21, Zara and H & M for casual clothing. The target customer also shops at TJMaxx/Marshalls. The consumer in this target market currently spends about $150/month on clothing, and would be considered to be highly involved with fashion/apparel, but not necessarily with slow fashion.
Assignment is to develop a marketing message that will resonate with this target market and convince them to invest in slow fashion. The primary message is that it is preferable to buy fewer items, and pay more per item rather than to purchase many low-priced fashion items, wear them 2-3 times and then discard them.
the task is to develop a television, print, radio, social media or other marketing message.
Describe the message.
What medium will you use? (Social media, television, print, radio, etc.). In other words, how will you reach the target market with your message?
What is the message? Describe or illustrate the advertising message visually and verbally.
Provide a brief rationale for why this message is appropriate for the situation.
