1) You have just been hired by a company that you much admire after graduation. The pay and benefits are great and you will have full medical coverage. There is one thing, they are Unionized. The company is an Open Shop Agreement, which we know is an agreement in right-to-work states that gives workers the option to join or not join a union if one exists in their workplace. First, would you join the Union and why? What benefits do you think you will get by being a member or not being a member?
2. You have been out of work now for a year due to COVID and a local company has reached out to you to work on a temporary basis. They will pay you $30.00 an hour plus transportation to the plant. Unfortunately, the company is on strike and they are hiring you to be a Strikebreaker, which we know are workers hired to do the jobs of striking workers until the labor dispute is resolved. You are risking seeing people you know at the plant striking. Would you take the job? Why or why not? What would be beneficial to you in this situation? (Be honest, there is no right or wrong answer but I want to know how you feel in this situation).
3. Your store, "Market Street Candy & Confections" has now opened and it is a hit with the customers. You have been impressed by the number of people complimenting you on the changes in the store but a few still grumble that they miss the store that they grew up with in the past. Using Marketing Research, which we know is the analysis of markets to determine opportunities and challenges and to find information needed to make good decisions, how will you win the longtime customers over? What types of products or events will you have to win over all your customers in your store for its "100th Year Celebration"? Please cite two examples and why you think these will win the customers over.
4. Your business "Market Street Candy & Confections" has been successful since its opening but you want to know why more people are not walking in the door. You have decided to study the Demographic Segmentation of your town that the store is located in to see how you can reach more customers. Everyone first, what town is your store located in? I want to know the specific name of the town. Next, please research the town's demographics. You can find this by Googling the town for its Census and Population information. Lastly, you now know who you are catering to and their income, education and age population. Tell me about the people in this town and why should they come to your store? What will you have to offer them in way of the products you will carry and the prices? First, I want to know ages and income levels and at least two items that will draw them into your store (Please remember that you are a candy store, not a bakery or bakery café so please concentrate on candy products).
