Comprehensive Milestone
Milestone 1: Choose a Public Health Topic
Students will choose a public health topic to use as their Health Communication project throughout the course. Carefully select a topic that can be used to create a health communication described in the final milestone. Include the following:
• Topic
• Why it was chosen
• Provide supporting evidence (data, source, etc)
Milestone 2 - Write a Problem Statement
Students will research their public health topic and develop a problem statement. Please utilize the Community Health Resource tab on the left panel in Blackboard. View the CDC Gateway Health Communication link to assist with writing the problem statement.
Milestone 3: Conduct Market Research
Students will conduct market research to further examine the problem and the audience affected. Students will identify target audience's characteristics, attitudes, beliefs, values, behaviors, determinants, benefits, and barriers to behavior change of the public health issue chosen.
Milestone 4 - Define the Market Strategy
Students will describe their market strategy for their Health Communication Project. Students will include target audience segmentation and how behavior change will be implemented, which model/theory will be used, and the intervention.
Milestone 5 - Developing a Health
Create a compelling message that will resonate with your target audience. Please see SOPHE 4 Steps to Communicate a Message in the Community Health Resource tab on the left panel in Blackboard.
Final Milestone - Health Communication
Students will compile each milestone for a final Health Communication Project and create a Health Communication. Students will choose which communication vehicle they will use to present their project (see Project Oral Presentation below). (Ex. Infographic, photovoice, social media platform, campaign or create an educational brochure. It will be presented on PowerPoint with voice recording.
