Assignment - Critical Analysis of Resources - An Online Portfolio
Throughout the course you will be invited to trouble normative practices and identify the ways in which they promote inequitable outcomes and experiences in order to nurture inclusivity and affirm people's diversity. The purpose of the online portfolio is to apply your knowledge and understanding of the course content to everyday practices as well as demonstrate your growth in understanding over time. Your portfolio will consist of three reflection entries which will be submitted at the beginning, middle and ending of the course.
1. Artifact Description: Choose an artifact of a schooling and/or artistic experience and describe its rationale for how it might be experienced in school or in your art practice. Please include an image that represents the artifact.
2. Critical Analysis: Explain the assumptions that are embedded within the artifact and the potential barriers to accessing the artifact from the perspective of viewer who have been historically marginalized by the identity/identities they embody (i.e., race, class, gender, religion, language, etc.). Make connections to theoretical frameworks/concepts explored in the course (identity, power, privilege, critical race theory, anti-racist pedagogy, coloniality, etc.) in your critique. (UTCA)
3. Critical Redesign: Redesign the artifact so that it might be more inclusive. Make connections theoretical frameworks/concepts explored in the course (identity, power, privilege, critical racetheory, anti-racist pedagogy, coloniality, etc.) to justify your redesign.

Entries to your online portfolio will be submitted via digitally in a program of your choice that allows the use of a comment feature (i.e., Google Slides, Docs, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.) Feedback may be offered by the course instructor and your colleagues. Each entry must include the headings as noted above. You can also share your post in Padlet to engage colleagues in your thinking.
In order to receive a mark for the entry:
• Your entries must have a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and supporting examples paraphrased and/or quoted in APA format
• You should refer to and cite at least three of the required readings in APA format (No repeats of the same sources)
• Each entry should be no less than: 400 words
Artifacts can be artworks/texts/resources/events/experiences, etc. Some examples are listed below:
• Novel/story book/movie/theatre/tv/picture/sculpture
• Field trip, direct study, field study, vacation
• Club or union memberships
• Culinary
