Question

A robot is used to complete three tasks in a manufacturing process. It is assumed that the robot completes one task at a time and that the numbers of hours taken to complete the first. second and third tasks follow Exponential distributions with rate parameters 1. 2 and 2.5. respectively. It is also supposed that the robot starts another task immediately after completing a task. Under these assumptions. calculate the expected total number of hours the robot would spend on completing the three tasks. Please note that no rounding is needed for your answer to this question and give your exact answer.
