Managing Housekeeping Operations

SITUATION 1

How many teams (including relief) of five section housekeepers each would you need to form in the housekeeping department of a 576-room hotel if:
a. Each section housekeeper cleans 16 guestrooms. 

b. The hotel has an on-premise laundry that takes one team to operate.
c. The hotel is open seven days a week.

 d. The employees work 40 hours per week maximum.
e. You need to have enough teams to cover days off.

SITUATION 2

On Wednesday, June 5, you are asked to prepare the adjusted daily schedule for Thursday, June 6 for the same property as in Situation 1. The forecast received from the front desk indicates that the resort will have 519 rooms occupied Wednesday night. How many section housekeepers will you need to show up for work on Thursday morning to service the estimated occupied rooms?

SITUATION 3

You have ran your reports and have established that the 450 room property that you work will be at 85% occupancy on Tuesday November 8. 

1. Calculate how many room attendants & houseperson you would need to schedule for the shift if each room attendant cleans 16 rooms. Also, the property is divided into teams and each block is assigned 1 house person. 
2. Calculate the labor cost if the hourly rate is $15.50 working an 8 hour shift.
