The station redevelopment will be part of the £742m Edinburgh - Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP). The station currently handles approximately 20 million passengers a year, and this is estimated to grow to 28 million by 2030.Use the following link as the starting point for a discussion relating to the "Queen Street Redevelopment Project, Glasgow":
You should critically analyse the importance of project planning/schedulingfor this project. Working individually, you are to write a report (using headings and subheadings) as set out in the Part above. You are required to further research the subject and all of the work must be fully referenced and all sources of information must be correctly identified and cited within the text. The Harvard System of referencing should be used.
The word count for this section should be 1500 words (+/- 10%).
Proposed structure of the report:
Part 1 (1500 words)
• Introduction (project background, aim of the report and scene of the report).
• Role of planning and Scheduling for project success.
• Analysis and Importance of planning and scheduling
o Time, cost, quality, safety.....
o Logistics and resources.
o Communication.
o Stakeholders.
o Risks.
o Monitoring and control
o Etc.
• Conclusion.
• List of references ( not less than 15 references)
TASK TWO: PROJECT PLANAND SUMMARY
The Queen Street Redevelopment Project will take approximately 3 years (36 months)to demolish existing buildings and to complete the new build requirements.
1. You should list out the:
• The Parts involved in the project (maximum of 40)
• The durations for each Part
• The logic and linking of the programme (start to start; finish to finish; start to fining; or finish to start). Further research on the topic should also help with this element.
You must present the information on a table below using headings such as; sub-structure, super-structure, etc.
2. You should then list out the items which you think/assume may be on the critical path.
3. Once you have done this, you should write a 500-word report supporting your decisions. This should include justification of the "logic" used, a discussion on the key dependences of some of the main activities, as well as any other observations which you feel explains your approach. You should consider the critical path you have identified and highlight what measures you would take as the Project Manager to ensure that the work is carried out on time.
Part 2
• Table (Parts Name, Duration, Predecessor, Successor, Type of Relationship and Assumption critical activities).
• List out the items which you think/assume may be on the critical path.
• Report (500 words) (explain how you did the planning and why you consider the dependences / logic / links, what measures and why the critical path like this.
