The task is to :
Present your knowledge of the organisation's likely ethical issues that may occur in their industry sector (start with Topic 3)
Show your understanding of the institutionalisation of business ethics (start with Topic 4)
The Institutionalisation of Business
The institutionalisation of ethics is an important task for today's organisations. You will learn that if organisations are to effectively counteract the increasingly frequent occurrences of blatantly unethical and often illegal behaviour, they must address the issues.
Unethical and often illegal behaviour occurs within large and often highly respected organisations. This week you will understand the importance of institutionalising organisational ethics and variables that impact ethical practices These variables include the psychological contract, organisational commitment, and an ethically-oriented culture that contribute to business ethics practices in all organisations.
Organisational Factors: The Role of Ethical Culture and Relationships.
The topic presents the role of corporate culture that includes the behavioural patterns, concepts, values, ceremonies, and rituals that take place in the organisation. This week you will examine the nature of organisational culture and how it aligns to ethics. In looking at culture the discussion will focus on compliance-based cultures and the use of legal departments to determine ethical risk. Values-based cultures is discussed, which relies on an explicit mission statement that defines the organisation and stakeholder relations. Further consideration is presented on how an ethical culture of the organisation becomes a powerful tool for leaders to communicate the organisational values to all members of the organisation. Leaders who develop, model and implement an ethical culture will be followed by all members of the organisation.
