When managers work with those that they are to look over they have a couple of tasks to perform. The first two are planning and organizing these tasks to help workers to know where the organization is headed and how to get there. The next two tasks are more people oriented. The manager then takes the companies direction and leads others to follow that direction and controls as best as they can to keep people wanting to be apart of the direction. Now if we take Euchner and Ganguly (2014) process of innovation which has six steps demonstrate value creation, generate business model options, identify risks, prioritize risks, reduce risk through experimentation, and organize for incubation.
The four management skills will add to the six steps of innovation by supporting each step. The manager needs to use these skills at every step from value creation to incubation. With each innovation step the risk to the company goes down but that risk is watched over by the manager. The management skills will help keep the risk in check. When the last innovation step is reached, and the manager has been utilizing their skills, the innovation should become part of the organization and help move it in the direction of the company's vision.
Like within my work whenever we think of making changes, we always look at the basic components of our work and see if the change supports or improves that basic component. Because if it does not do this then the change could be a waste of time and resources.
