Jason Bikes produces a wide range of mountain bikes for local and export market. Over the last 6 months, their sales figure indicated significant reduction in customer demand/order. This has a direct impact on the company bottom line. The CEO has ordered an immediate investigation to inform the top management on the current issues and propose solutions. The result from a brainstorming session by the staff suggests that it was due to the following factors:

  • Higher defect rate
  • Lower productivity

You are required to analyse the above operational issues and recommend "lean strategies" to overcome their problems. Elaborate in detail on how these strategies can be applied.
