Management of a Musculo-Skeletal Disorder Template
Title:
What is the Musculo-Skeletal disorder that your group decided to investigate?
Introduction:
Explain why you chose this particular disorder. You may include personal histories, familiarity with the care and management of the disorder, or curiosity about the specific disorder. In this section, include pervious studies you have encountered and the resolution of the issue. Be sure to document your resources in the Reference Section of your report.
Case History Presentation:
You must have an actual person in mind when you chose this particular disorder. The name or identity of the subject must not be included in this document. Maintain patient confidentiality. How and when was the disorder diagnosed? Discuss the present status of the person, how long has this disorder been diagnosed, what is the prognosis, and how is the patient handling the disorder. How many care providers are involved? Are you a member of the care giver team? Again, do not identify any of the caregivers by name. Refer to them as the "nurse", the "physical therapist" or the "physician" and in this case you may include the specialty such as "oncologist," "orthopedist," etc.
To make your case presentation clearer, you may use images available online provided that you document the source in the Reference section of the document.
Care and Management of the Disorder:
Describe the care and management plan for the disorder, if you happen to be a member of the caregiver team and explain why such activities are prescribed for the patient. For example, if you are dealing with knee injury and one of the prescribed therapy is "elevation of injured knee..." explain the rational for this recommendation. If certain medication are prescribed, discuss the expected outcome.
If you are not a member of the caregiver team, then you must come up with a management and care plan, based on what you know about the musculo-skeletal system. You must justify why you are recommending a certain procedure and if you researched this particular procedure then you must document the source in the Reference section of the document. Do not recommend any medication (only trained and licensed professional should do this) Do not do this project alone. Work with a team so that at any one time, your are checking each other's input into the project. If you ask certain practitioners (physical therapist, chiropractor, etc.), you must have their permission to include their names as consultants in this project).
