The objective of the assessment task:
The objective of this assessment task is to ensure you are competent to research the planning requirements and develop, implement and maintain the human resources strategic plan for an organisation.
Description of the assessment task: This assessment task requires you to complete the following activities:
1. Complete a report - Research the planning requirements and report them to the management
2. Role play - Consultation with relevant managers, team leaders and employees.
3. Develop a Human resource strategic plan
4. Implement the Human resource strategic plan
5. Maintain the Human resource strategic plan
You must read the scenario and related information to complete all the mentioned above assessment activities.
You must demonstrate that you have acquired the skills and the knowledge to develop a human resource strategic plan for an organisation to meet its current and foreseeable business and performance objectives.
Assessment activity 1 - Complete a report
This is the first assessment activity. This assessment activity requires to systematically investigate into and study all the materials and information provided to establish facts and reach to conclusions and share your observations with the management of the organisation in a report format. In the first assessment activity, you are required to read the provided scenario and other relevant information and complete a report.
Your report must be based upon the following factors:
Analysing the strategic plans, business plans and operational plans to determine human resources strategic direction, objectives and targets
Appropriately demonstrated and developed budget according to requirements of the organisation.
Timeframes to complete each of the individual tasks
Undertake environmental analysis to identify all external and internal elements that can affect the organisation's performance.
Identifying the current and future labour needs and skill-sets and options for sourcing the labour supply.
Considering new technology and its impact on job roles and job design.
Reviewing recent and potential changes to industrial/legal requirements.
The total costs need to be compared with the predicted benefits. Calculate total costs and total benefits for comparison and compare them by dividing the total costs by the benefits.
Use your analysis to determine what strategies can be applied to manage the costs and realise the benefits.
The report should be between 1000-1400 words.
Assessment Task 3 - Role Play (RP)
Assessment Activity 3 - Roleplay - Consultation with relevant managers, team leaders and employees
This activity is in continuation to the previous assessment activity.
In this assessment task, you are required to work with the relevant managers, team leaders and employees to discuss the report and your findings and identify human resource preferences. The purpose of the assessment activity is to ensure you participate in effective stakeholder engagement.
Applicable conditions on the assessment activity:
You must have this consultation for 10-15 minutes.
The consultation must be based on the provided guidelines.
Your trainer needs to ensure there are six people available and suitable to play the following roles:
- Two managers (one from Sydney and one from Melbourne)
- Two Team leaders (one from Sydney and one from Melbourne)
- Two employees (one from Sydney and one from Melbourne)
Students or other staff members can play the above roles.
Each student must play the role of the HR manager to consult with the relevant managers, team leaders and employees.
