Saltwalter Entertainment Inc. was contracted to manage an outdoor concert venue in a large stadium. This required months of planning, which included performers and bands that were contracted to perform throughout the course of a weekend, advertisements, and posters, radio and television, the acquisition of the stadium for the duration of one weekend, and the contracting of employees to manage concessions, and ticket sales over the course of the weekend. Saltwater Entertainment employs their own staff to set up stage equipment and perform lighting and sound management for all of the performers. They did use external contractors for perimeter security and stage security as well as traffic control. Saltwater Entertainment also contracted a local hotel to manage all the performers’ and Saltwater Entertainment staff housing requirements through the weekend. Saltwater Entertainment contracted transportation for entertainers and Saltwater Entertainment staff to and from the hotel each day.

Most of the weekend went fairly well, but there have been issues that will need to be dealt with in finishing this entertainment project. The following contract conditions will need to be assessed for the final closure of all procurements: 1. Two performers have not been paid for performance contracts that they fulfilled. All other performers have been paid. 2. All advertising contracts have fulfilled their requirements in producing the agreed-upon advertising. 3. The transportation company has file a dispute claiming the interior of one of the transportation vans required excessive cleaning and will not return the deposit. The transportation contract did not stipulate any terms or conditions based on an objective opinion of cleanliness of the transportation vehicles. 4. Hotel staff have reported several rooms having excess cleaning requirements, and they are threatening legal action if not reimbursed. The terms of the hotel agreement clearly state that excessive cleaning requirements will be billed if necessary. 5. It was determined that two of the 16 security guards hired to monitor the perimeter of the stadium were found sitting in their car for several hours.

Questions:

1. Identify the five risks identified in this case study.

2. Discuss how the closure of these five risk events might be accomplished.
