International Management/Consultancy/Work-Based Report
Assessment Task
AE 1: International Management/Consultancy/Work-Based Report
You are required to develop and deliver an in-depth study that critically evaluates a set of International Management issues or problems, which address an important International Management issue; and communicate a convincing and compelling set of conclusions and recommendations.
The issues/problems addressed should be set within an appropriate business and /or international management context; demonstrating cutting-edge ideas/practice that explore the boundaries of knowledge and potential developments within that context.
Building upon your original proposal and in liaison with your supervisor, your International Management/Consultancy/Work-Based Report should reflect the time and resources available to you, but make the most of these.
Your reader will expect your conclusions and recommendations to be fully justified and to show a sense or originality appropriate to Masters-level.
You should at all times pay careful attention to the presentation of your work even when giving your Supervisor early drafts of your project. Given your time constraints you will (understandably) want to avoid wholesale revision of your work. This is not always possible. However, you can minimise the possibility of this by setting yourself high standards from the outset.
Remember that the effective communication of your work is a vital factor in determining your final assessment grade. It is important that you are able to take a critical look at your own work.

AE 2: Oral Assessment
You will be required to participate in a 15 minute oral assessment, as scheduled, to supplement and enhance your written report. This is worth 20 percent of the total assessment of the unit. The oral assessment will test high level reflective and verbal communication skills. In addition, you are expected to be able to answer questions on your work for which you may not have pre-prepared answers. In this respect the assessment mirrors managerial life. The focus of the oral assessment will be:
- To clarify issues in the written report which might be unclear;
- To assess your ability to contextualise your own work;
- To assess your ability to reflect critically on the strengths and weaknesses of your work, including the articulation of learning expressed in terms of what might be done if the project were to be undertaken again.
