Two college roommates, Carlos and Jayden, are watching TV on a Sunday afternoon in their off-campus apartment. Suddenly an unknown man bursts through the door waving a pistol and yelling. Carlos dives at the man and is struck in the head with the pistol as Jayden runs out of the room and quickly dials 911 on his cellphone. The intruder kicks in Jayden's bedroom door and fires two shots in Jayden's direction, but does not hit him. Carlos, bleeding profusely from his head rushes in and strikes the man with a golf club causing him to drop the gun. Bloodied and confused, the suspect stumbles out the door and disappears. Several additional 911 calls are received from adjacent apartments reporting gunshots and yelling.

You are dispatched to the crime scene as the first responding officer and investigator. Describe in detail (and in an appropriate order) the steps that you would take in conducting this investigation considering scene security, evidence handling, interviewing, documentation of the scene, etc.
