Assignment: Make the 3 general concepts into etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical considerations, then list things you associate with the disease (symptoms, organism, time course, treatments, morbidity, mortality, acute, chronic etc.)

Connect concepts from their list, one pair at a time, with directional links; and most importantly, to label the linking lines (e.g., Carrots → vitamin A (linking word is, "contain") OR meat → iron (linking words are, "is a good source of"). Continue this process until all concepts appear on the map.

  • Put special emphasis on cross-linking concepts in one area of the map with those in other areas. Add as many additional concepts as you wish to make your map unique and personally meaningful without it being too crowded.

THINGS I'LL BE LOOKING FOR:

  • Are the most important concepts depicted?
  • Are the links among concepts scientifically acceptable?
  • Is there a substantial amount of branching hierarchy and cross-linking?
  • the propositions suggest that the student subscribes to significant misconceptions?
  • How have students' concept maps changed over the course of days or weeks?
  • For my scoring scale (you already get 4 to start! Your disease, and the three branches of etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical treatment)
