Case: Imagine that you are hired as an international business consultant for a new, growing company with the potential for a large number of production or service sites abroad. Your employer aims to be a responsible corporate citizen. The CEO of the company has requested that you create memo outlining the components of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and highlighting best practices in order to develop a company policy for CSR that is sustainable not only in in the company's home country, but also in other countries where this company is doing business.

Your tasks:

1. Review Chapter 2 of the course text paying particular attention to CSR and related topics.
2. Make an assumption regarding the company's specialization (for example, pharmaceuticals, finance, minerals, manufacturing, etc.)
3. Get familiar with best practices in CSR reporting using the following resource: Responsibility Reports. You should go over the reports and select two or three of them to use as examples of best practices in your memo.
4. Get familiar with the Business Memo format (HINT: You can learn more about the requirements and conventions used in business memos by visiting online writing centers such as GMU, Purdue, CSU).
5. two- to three-page informational memo in which you briefly describe the purpose of CSR, characterize possible approaches to CSR reporting using the examples you chose, and make a recommendation regarding the CSR components that are most relevant to the company's area of specialization and should be included in the company's CSR policy.
