Collect raw data from NOAA and use some methods of forecasting to make a 3-day weather forecast for a local area near you. You can describe what the weather is doing and prepare to use concepts learned in class to explain why it is happening. For this activity, you should use your skill to make your own predictions without looking at any secondary weather forecasts. After you are done making your own forecast, go ahead and check your work against the pros at the accuweather.com link in the Reading List. Were your predictions correct?
The weather forecast must include:
Temperature for each day in highs and lows
Sky coverage (percentage of cloud cover and type of cloud expected)
Chance of Precipitation
Windspeed and direction
Expected weather phenomena (Thunderstorms, snow, etc.)
What predictions did you make about the weather in your region of focus?
Did your three-day predictions match those when you compared them to accuweather?
Did the synoptic you created for your Module 7 Science in Practice activity help you better understand how to make weather predictions? Why or why not?
Did these activities influence how you think about the weather people on the news? How so?
