Assignment - Make a Comment on Collaboration Methods Discussion
One collaboration method that can advocate for a practice improvement strategy is developing a marketing plan that could include targeted messaging to key stakeholders, providing educational materials about the proposed practice improvement strategy, and developing a media relations strategy. Additionally, coalition building and developing relationships with key opinion leaders could be used to advocate for the practice improvement strategy (Kohrt et al., 2021). Finally, research to generate evidence to support the practice improvement strategy could also be used to advocate for its implementation (Kohrt et al., 2021). In health care, resistance is met when caring for the vulnerable with mental health and Substance Use Disorders, who often cannot advocate for themselves.
The methods are effective in that they help to create a community of support for the proposed practice improvement strategy, generate evidence that can be used to support its implementation, and build relationships with key opinion leaders (Kohrt et al., 2021). This collaborative approach allows for a unified voice when advocating for change and raises awareness about the issue among those who may influence the policy or practice (Kohrt et al., 2021). For example, targeting key stakeholders such as administrators, medical professionals, and patients could help to ensure that the proposed practice improvement strategy is heard and understood. Additionally, providing educational materials about the proposed strategy could help to change perceptions about the issue and build support for its implementation. Finally, developing a media relations strategy could help to spread awareness about the proposed practice improvement strategy among critical audiences (Kohrt et al., 2021). By working together, advocates can create a solid coalition to advocate for change successfully. However, the methods could have some limitations, and one potential limitation of this approach is that it may not be effective in all instances. For example, suppose there is resistance from those affected by the policy or practice is improved. In that case, advocates may not be able to generate enough support to make a difference.
