Question 1: You need to make a choice between McDonald's or Burger King. Suppose customers arrive at the same average rate and the average service time.

When you enter McDonald's there are two lines and you need to pick one (and can't jump lines). When you enter Burger King, there is one line with two servers. As a server is available the next customer moves up. On average, where will you wait longer, McDonald's or Burger King?

You do not need to add numbers. Just think about it.

Also, you may not like the assumption that at McDonald's you are unable to jump lines. It may not be realistic but it is an assumption to make the analysis cleaner. Can you think of a situation where it is an accurate assumption?
