"Advocates for boys point out that boys make up the majority of students referred to special education, have higher dropout rates than girls, are more often disciplined by teachers, and have a much higher rate of participation in crime than girls." Why do you think boys are perceived to be more prone to violence and crime than their female counterparts? When do they internalize this perception? What do you think can be done to deter boys' self-proclamation and participation in these negative perceptions and crime?
