Major differences in informal vs academic writing

Question: Think about argument and audience, you will notice that we use different appeals to different audiences to convince, persuade, and prove to them our argument is a good one. Part of audience analysis means that we use different language with different audiences. For example, my kids know when a phone call is important regarding my job, health and business by my tone, vocabulary, and then respond by being quiet or turning down the television, etc.

When we write for academic arguments, we use much more formal language than an informal one.
