Question

Research has shown that people who maintain eye contact during social interactions are rated as more trustworthy and competent than those who avoid eye contact. In a study published in the Journal of Research in Personality, participants were asked to rate the trustworthiness and competence of individuals based solely on their eye contact. The results showed that participants rated those who maintained eye contact as more trustworthy and competent.
