It is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the United States and provides water to Arizona, Nevada, and California. A random sample of outflow (in cfs) per day from Lake Powell was obtained, and the data are given in the following table.36

To maintain an adequate water supply, the outflow from Lake Powell should be approximately 11,000 cfs per day. Assume the underlying distribution of outflow is continuous. Use the sign test with a = 0.05 to determine whether there is any evidence that the median outflow per day is less than 11,000 cfs.
