Carbohydrates can be found in healthy foods such as fruits, grains, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Carbohydrates can also be found in unhealthy foods as well. These foods are pasta and bread. Carbohydrates are classified into three categories: sugar, starch and fiber. There are both simple and complex carbohydrates. Sugar, the simplest form is in foods such as fructose and lactose. Starch is a complex carbohydrate and can be found in vegetables and beans. Fiber is also in complex carbohydrates. It is found in more plant-based foods.
