Route Two | Desktop-based Project | 5000 words
This route is developed based on the need for desktop-based projects as an alternative to the field project (Route 1) for several reasons, including students' preference or lack of relevant field projects. You have been assigned a recent report/case study. The assignment (course work) outcome is identical to the first route as you will produce a 5000 word-report. You have been assigned the following case: GE Digital: Racing to Lead Industry 4.0
Your report should perform the following tasks:
1. Provide an overview of the case: who is involved, the context, summary of the stakeholders involved.
2. Analyse the market opportunity described in the case study.
3. Explain the formation context and approach of GE Digital from 2015 until 2021 how GED has changed since July 2019.
4. Who are the rivals of GED, and what are the challenges? In your view, how does GED handle these challenges?
5. Analyse GED's approach to optimising and transforming a business that delivers to its stakeholders an 'intelligent enterprise,' where real-time data informs the digital boardroom. Consider the new CEO, Pat Byrne's Approach.
6. Critically evaluate GED's approach towards digital transformation, considering the context of the business and the five industrial verticals mentioned in the document. What approaches and practices would you suggest GED adopt? And why?
7. Reflection part: what went right, what went wrong, why it went wrong, how did you go about it, what lessons did you learn?)
8. Conclusion and recommendations.
